If you want to increase your independence, earn your own money and connect with the community in a workplace alongside people without disability, mainstream employment may be the right option for you.
Once you have achieved your career goals in Supported Employment and Supported Hosted Employment, Mainstream employment is the next step in your employment journey. You will work independently, anywhere you want, while earning your own money.
We can help you get job ready and navigate life in mainstream employment. We provide support such as mentoring, training and ongoing support to help you achieve your work goals and feel comfortable in a mainstream work environment.
Entering mainstream employment does not mean you won’t receive any support. In mainstream employment, you may need to negotiate with your employer about the supports you require and discuss with them how this will be paid for.
Once you have completed all that you can in supported hosted employment, we can support you with the following to assist you transitioning to mainstream employment:
- Career advice
- Assistance with preparing for work
- Resume writing and interview skills
- Referrals to personal and/or specialist support services
- Gaining new skills and/or qualifications
- Support once you get a job, including on-the job training.
