Carl Rocks His Way into Mainstream Employment

Whether he is rocking out to thrash metal, or mastering the forklift in the warehouse, you can be sure Carl will give it everything he has got.

This unwavering dedication to his craft has not gone unnoticed, with Carl recently earning a position in Mainstream Employment at Maroochydore Business Solutions.

After almost a decade in Supported Employment with Endeavour Foundation, Carl said the move has been a long time coming.

“I love what I do, and I think promotion felt like a natural progression – one I truly deserved,” he said.

“Everyone has been really supportive. When I got the promotion, my co-workers were as excited for me as I was.”

During his time in Supported Employment, Carl grew both personally and professionally, developing key skills in logistics and warehouse management, while becoming more confident in his own abilities both in and out of the workplace.

In his new role, Carl will take on more responsibilities, from handling paperwork and computer-based tasks to ongoing training that keeps him up to date with business processes.

He will also be training others in forklift operations, something he is particularly excited about.

Creative Carl Sure to Succeed

Maroochydore Business Solutions Production Manager, Andrew Dunn, has worked alongside Carl for the past decade and is of no doubt that he will excel in his new role.

“It has been a pleasure to witness the growth of Carl over the years,” he said.

“He is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He is dependable, trustworthy and always coming up with ways we can improve.”

Carl’s unique perspective does not just come from his work, but also from his creative life.

Outside of work, he produces dark fantasy illustrations and occasionally takes on commissions from bands for shirts, album covers and logos.

And while he would love to have his favourite tunes blasting throughout the warehouse, Carl admits they may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

“A lot of the guys here like their AC/DC and Cold Chisel, so we will probably stick to that,” he laughed.
